The Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree has been part of the Portland area community since 1962. Its members’ extraordinary spirit and commitment to “the Tree” exemplify their common mission: to share the true meaning of Christmas – the messages of hope, love, peace and joy – to the Pacific Northwest community through its musical performances. An ecumenical ministry, the Tree’s Adult Choir represents over 130 churches in the Portland Metro area. Starting in September, each choir member volunteers many hours to rehearse the music, record the annual music CD, and perform for over 21,000 audience members in our home at the Keller Auditorium.

The Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree Youth Choir has been a part of the community since 1962. Its mission is to involve children in reaching musical excellence to glorify Jesus Christ. To date, over 3,000 children from the Portland Metro area have participated in the Tree’s annual holiday production, performing for more than 21,000 audience members each year. With up to 40 children in grades 5-8, the members of the youth choir come from many different cultural backgrounds and educational environments, including public school, private and parochial schools, and home schooling. Membership in the Youth Choir provides unique opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, responsibility, discipline, and confidence. For the last few years, gospel music has been a part of the the Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree. The Joyful Voices Choir is comprised of several dozen Adult Tree choir members who share a passion for the arts, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ in movement and song. Each year, the Joyful Voices Choir is excited to present new music to the Tree’s audiences.
