Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree has been part of the Portland area community since 1962. Its members’ extraordinary spirit and commitment exemplify their common mission: to share the true meaning of Christmas – with the messages of Hope, Love, Peace and Joy. The Tree’s Adult Choir represents over 130 churches in the Portland Metro area. Starting in September, each choir member volunteers many hours to rehearse the music. Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree Youth Choir has been a part of the production since 1962. With up to 40 performers in grades 5-8, the members of the youth choir come from many different backgrounds and educational environments, including public school, private and parochial schools, and homeschooling. Membership in the Youth Choir provides unique opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, responsibility, discipline, and confidence and is a lot of fun!
